2022 Powered By Rock A27 Day Charity Golf Classic Post Event Details

LAS VEGAS, Nevada - On Friday, April 22nd, 2022 Powered By Rock hosted a charity golf tournament called The 2022 Powered By Rock A27 Day Charity Golf Classic to raise money for the charity Punk Rock Saves Lives (PRSL).

The charity raised around $4000 to donate to PRSL through sponsorships, golfer registrations and silent auction donations.

52 Golfers were on hand for the inaugural event held at The Legacy Golf Club, and one player, Jimmy Jones, said, “This is probably the best and most fun first-time charity golf tournament I have been to.”

Powered By Rock is making it an annual tradition to have a charity golf tournament in the Las Vegas area.

The tournament format was a 4-person scramble where each team got to take the best shot of their teammates and play their next shot from there.

A highlight of the event was the Golf Ball Cannon provided by Par 4 Entertainment where each player got to shoot the cannon with a golf ball fitted with a “tail” was shot about 350 yards to drive the green on Hole 1 in one shot.

Carl Leinbach won the golf bag provided the hole sponsor (and co-tournament sponsor) Pressured Solutions of Las Vegas with a shot that landed 3’10” from the cup on a par 4.

The winning team came from another tournament sponsor - Chapman Dodge of Las Vegas with a team score of 55 (-17). Chapman Dodge also put a Jeep Gladiator on Hole 2 as the prize for a hole in one. No one won it this year though. Good luck to the players on next year’s attempt.

Montucky Cold Snacks provided a beer and one of their new grapefruit seltzers for each player as well as some really cool swag to stock the silent auction baskets as well as the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin prizes.

William Grant & Sons was the official spirit of the tournament with their Hendricks Gin and Tonic special and their hole sponsorship for the Closest to the Pin contest on Hole #6.

Aside from that, there were prizes donated by companies like Jagermeister (Cooler and Light), Bacardi (Guitar), Clique Hospitality (Restaurant Voucher), Regenerate Medical Concierge (Gift Card), Bella Vita (Restaurant Voucher), Body By Jillian (Personal Training Sessions), Hand & Stone (Massage Voucher) and Powered By Rock (guitar accessories).

This tournament is about building a positive environment for our community, and it is based around a music-backed following with bands and artists and organizations that lead the way by putting their positive energy into bringing people together.

The A27 Day Charity Golf Classic started out as a tradition among friends in 2002 in Eugene, OR. A group of college students decided that they needed a break between spring break and summer break as there are very few holidays, and the pressures of school work, holding down a job, socializing and final exams weighed heavy on their minds in the spring term.

Thus, a random date on the calendar was picked – April 27th, 2002! But how would this ever become a real holiday to be celebrated by the masses? Well, it had to have an official holiday name. This was the dawn of “April 27th Day.”

The rules became simple to follow – join up as many of your friends as possible for a day of revelry on the golf course and continue on as long as you could before succumbing to a peaceful slumber.

The group of friends have celebrated in person about 80% of the following years even though they all live in different places now. It is now time to share this holiday with even more people, and in doing so, bring a charitable aspect to the fun.
