LAS VEGAS, NV -- Death metal legends, Cannibal Corpse, took the stage at The Theater at The Virgin on April 11th and those in attendance exploded with furious excitement and energy.

With a legacy stretching back to the ‘80s it’s hard to find someone who hasn’t at least heard of Cannibal Corpse. Icons of the Florida death metal scene, Cannibal Corpse paved the way for a lot of the music we hear today. Thundering beats and brain shredding guitars mixed with themes of horror and gore have made Cannibal Corpse stand out in the genre.

To the uninitiated, Cannibal Corpse might sound like nothing but the screaming growls of some beast. For those familiar with death metal, George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher has one of the most recognizable and iconic voices in the game. I personally couldn’t imagine songs like "Hammer Smashed Face Evisceration Plague" without the guttural sounds of Corpsegrinder.

I first got into Cannibal Corpse way back in like 1992 when I first heard their album Butchered at Birth. I have to admit I only bought it because I loved the album art, but I immediately became enthralled with what I heard. You could say Cannibal Corpse was my introduction to death metal. Even today Cannibal Corpse has some of the best album art in my opinion.

Even after more than 30 years of pumping out some of the heaviest visceral music you could hear, Cannibal Corpse hasn’t lost an ounce of brutality. Their stage presence could only be matched by the insanity of the music they played. I’ve seen Cannibal Corpse a few times over the years and have never once been disappointed.

Take the word of this old punk and get out and see these guys while you still can. It is definitely a show you want to catch if you’re a fan of any kind of heavy music. Cannibal Corpse is not a band to be taken lightly though. Heavier and more brutal than a lot of others, Cannibal Corpse has grinded their way into the history of what we know as Death Metal. I personally hope they keep going and inspire future generations.
