LAS VEGAS - On Saturday April 27th Backstage Bar and Billiards was treated to a thundering performance from Legendary Misfits guitarist and his band Doyle.

Being my first time catching this band live, I didn’t know what to expect, but I must say I was nowhere near disappointed.

Growing up on the Misfits, I was pleasantly surprised to see and hear a completely different experience. With more of a metal sound, Doyle brought a brutality you would expect from someone who is called, The Vegan Beast.

With shredding riffs and thundering rhythms and every moment filled with writhing energy, those in attendance couldn’t help but be enthralled by the show before them. Whether you’re a punk or a metal head, you would be doing yourself a disservice if you pass on this show.

As a long time fan of music featuring Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein, I do have a funny memory to share.

I was at a Misfits show back in 2000 in Houston Tx. I was getting one of my records signed by Jerry Only and asked about getting Doyle’s. His response, “I’m the nice monster. He’s the mean monster.” I still laugh about this when it pops in my mind. Doyles signature is still to this day, the only original Misfits one that I’m missing. One of these days.

In closing, don’t miss out on a great show when Doyle comes through town. And don’t skip out when a musician you like does something different. You might be pleasantly surprised and really enjoy what you hear.
