LAS VEGAS, NV -- On Friday, April 11th, The Theater at The Virgin was invaded by Swedish metal icons Meshuggah, and this was definitely a show I’ll never forget.

With roots going back to the late ‘80s it is no wonder Meshuggah are masters of their craft. With 9 studio albums and multiple EPs under their belt, they have a long tradition of some of the most brutal and heavy music out there. If you’re a fan of metal, you won’t find much better than these masters of brutality.

Having been able to spend a couple months on the road with Meshuggah when I was working the Ozzfest tour years ago I’ve experienced them live many times. I must say though, the show I witnessed this time was like no other. Thundering beats, grinding guitars and guttural vocals combined with lights and lasers made for a very captivating show.

From the moment Meshuggah hit the stage the crowd in attendance was in an uproar. You could feel the floor trembling with the excitement of several hundred eager fans. Every ounce of energy the band put out the fans gave right back to them. The venue itself began to feel alive with the energy from both the band and the crowd.

If you know me you know I’m punk to the core, but I do love a good metal show and Meshuggah is one of the best you can ever see. No matter what type of music you’re into, don't be afraid to branch out and check out something new. You never know...you might find something you like.

Support live music. It takes a lot for bands like Meshuggah to travel halfway around the world to do some shows. Other bands just hope to go across the country or at least the state they’re in. Support the bands you love by going to shows and buying merch. It's what keeps the music we love alive and thriving.
